Work has begun on the drafting of a standard piracy clause for time charters for industry-wide use. The drafting team responsible for the task met in London on 29 January 2009 and has prepared a comprehensive first draft. The new clause will deal with the decision by the owners as to whether the risk of piracy attack is so great as to present a real danger to the vessel and crew.
